Woodrow Wilson
Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born on December 28, 1858 in Staunton, Virginia. He attended the College of New Jersey and later got his Ph.D at the University of Virginia Law School. Wilson served as Governor of New Jersey before he became the 28th president of the United States. He served in office from March 4, 1913 to March 4, 1921 and died on February 3, 1924 in Washington D.C at the age of 67. Wilson, as other presidents before him exhibited the 6 roles of the president; Commander-in-chief, chief executive, party leader, chief of state, chief diplomat, and chief legislator The president’s role as commander-in-chief regards to his authority during times of war and battle. Also, it represents how he has power over the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. The president has say over what weapons will be used and where troops will be stationed. Woodrow Wilson had many examples throughout his term in which he showed his command over the United States’ armed forces. Wilson, during his first term, dealt with the issue of World War I. At first, Wilson tried to keep the U.S. out of the war in Europe, as the U.S. was in a state of neutrality. Wilson strongly believed in peace and not going into war, unless they had no other choice. In terms of representing this country as a symbol, Woodrow Wilson exemplified a good symbol for this country.
