Like any other institutions that bring together human interactions, organisations are to have individuals with diverse positions in the pecking order with different opinions and beliefs. Such views and ideas manifest in the form of political structure, and at times can bring the organisational activities to a standstill. These politics in the organisations cannot be bypassed, as a direct consequence of the complex nature of organisational behaviour and structure. Exposition may subsist as to whether organisational politics are beneficial or detrimental to the efficient functioning of an institution. If power elicits social disapproval, then politics cannot be too far behind. Power is the force that people try to keep under wraps. People who have power feel obliged to deny that they have it or at least not to flaunt it. Additionally, those who want it often try to give the impression they do not (Chapter 13, pg.600)
Nevertheless, a clear understanding and appreciation of the complexity of an organisation, regarding its behavioural and structural facets, will be cognisant of the reality that politics is an elemental composition of any human-managed institution. …show more content…
These are unseen elements of culture and not cognitively identified in the daily interactions between members of the company. Additionally, these are the elements of culture that are considered taboo to discuss within an institution. Many of the unspoken rules and guidelines exist without the knowledge of an individual. For a person to be able to adapt to the attributes of this level, they need to have a given experience in understanding it thus reinforcing its invincibility. Here culture is the underlying and guiding element frequently missed by organisational
