Political Views Essay
“Which political side are you on?” You probably heard this question before and said you really didn’t know. I really didn’t know what political side I was on before I did some research on the three major political philosophies; Liberalism, Libertarianism, and Conservative. The civic stance I agree with the most is the liberal’s point of view. Liberals protect; individual rights to choose, government programs like Medicaid and welfare that help the needy, and that sex education programs that teach safe sex and prevent teen pregnancy.

Libertarianism is a mixture of conservatives, liberals, and their own twists on things. Libertarians side with liberals on civil liberties. A major issue with libertarians is that they feel that government power should be dispersed. On economic issues, the libertarians side with the conservatives; by wanting taxes cut or abolished. They also believe that economic arrangements play a dual role in the promotion of a free society. Economic freedom needs special emphasis because intellectuals in particular have a strong bias against regarding this aspect of freedom as important. Libertarianism can trace their ideas back to the Declaration of Independence. The libertarians believe that dependence on government has devalued the traditional family values. Having more families depend more on welfare only cause people to believe that they can’t survive on their own. This is especially true if they haven’t worked for many years and have no education or skills.
