The film rabbit proof fence depicts a story about three young girls and their journey home across western Australia from the Moore River re-education facility. Molly Craig (Everlyn Sampi) leads her sister, Daisy Craig Kadibill (Tianna Sansbury) and cousin Gracie Fields (Laura Monaghan) back to Jigalong after being forcibly removed from them home and family during the stolen generations(IMDb.) This movie explores this concept quite quickly but in detail. During the stolen generation white Australians believed that they could convert indigenous Australians into white Australians, not only in beliefs and lifestyle but in skin colour as well. There is a scene in the movie where A.O Neville is giving a presentation about his theory of how after three generations of mixed breeding the white genes take over and you can no longer visibly tell that they are aboriginal. He claims that he fears for the children born into this new race. This part of the movie is very enlightening as the movie portrays it as a key reason why the stolen generation happened. The movie explored the stolen generation in a new light for me, I found this this movie gave this dark time in history a sense of hope and made me feel a connection to Molly. I felt terrible when I found out that her daughters had been taken away from her, no one should ever have to live through losing their family once and she lost her family temporarily once however sadly the second time it was permanent. After watching this movie I feel like I can better understand what happened in aboriginal
