“To die will be an awfully big adventure.” Peter Pan was a boy who would never grow up and this quote shows how Peter Pan is adventurous and likes having fun. In this paper I will explain Peter Pan’s origin, relationships, characters, and publications.
J.M. Barrie was the creator of Peter Pan and wrote all of the plays about Peter Pan and dreamt up all the adventures that his main character would have in Neverland. J.M. Barrie’s older brother Dave Barrie, died when he was only 11 years old in a frozen lake. He never had a chance to grow up so his parents always called Dave “the boy who would never grow up.” That is where the phrase came from in the Peter Pan plays and movie. Those are some people who did the voices for the characters in the movie Peter Pan! People loved Peter Pan so much that in some parks they have sculptures of the boy! Bowring Park in Canada has a large statue of Peter Pan on top of a rock in remembrance of a young, three year old girl who died in a car crash. She was known in the town as the girl who would never grow up. In London, another statue of Peter was placed in a park so that the people who went to the park would remember J.M. Barrie, wrote many plays including The Little White Bird, and Peter Pan! As I mentioned earlier, J.M. Barrie was inspired by his older brother, Dave Barrie, who died when he was very young. J.M. Barrie decided to make a play based off of his brother and this is how he made the well know movie Peter Pan. Peter Pan the movie is about an ageless boy. Peter and Wendy have adventures in a fantasy land named “Never Land”. It was named “Never Land” because it was the place that never happened in his brother’s life.
Do you know how old Peter Pan is? Nobody knows exactly how old Peter Pan actually is! They have guessed about twelve or thirteen years of age. J.M. Barrie does explain that days are not always twenty four hours in Neverland like our days are. So we do not actually have an accurate estimate of how old Peter actually is.
Peter Pan is a great movie. It is very interesting to learn and research about the boy who lived in the mysterious land of Neverland! It has shown kids around the world that someday you will have to grow up, but for now you should enjoy the time you have with your friends and family by going on exciting adventures.
