Drug Trafficking In Peru

Introduction statement of the problem
The US should support The Peruvian government because If They have the capability to shoot down airplanes the less the drug smuggling airplanes will try to transport drugs into the United states of America. Currently in Peru they one of the highest drug trafficking ports in all of the world, where do the drugs go?
History of Peru
Well they are mainly transported by small plane into the US virgin islands, Puerto Rico and finally Florida. Drug related deaths here in the united states have gone from 9,000 deaths in 2001 to 25,000 deaths in 2014. This has caused the government to begin to worry and ultimately wanting to bring this cause to a stop. As far as actually supporting the Peruvian government I believe

First we would give all of these small planes that are registering a radar system so than any time there is an plane on route to the US without a flight plan that has been passed can be shot down by ether the Peruvian government or the united states. Not only will this help stop drug transport, but it will help the drug intake here in America. Although all solutions have a bad side to them and this bad side is the cost of all of the radars. Overall i think that this is the only option If we actually want to be effective. My reason for thinking this way is because if we just gain the ability to shoot down planes it would be very hard to judge which planes to are smuggling drugs. But if we have radars in all of the planes we know whether or not these planes have flight plans and have been cleared to come to the united states. if they haven 't that give us a valuable reason to have them turn around or be shot down. Since both presidents from America and Peru want to stop this issue I think that it will happen, but it will take a lot of pushing not just because president Obama is closing in on his departure, of the white house, but the president of Peru has also ended his term very soon so if we want this to end we will have to do it very quickly or wait till we have new people in the office. The main causes for this drug problem would be the fact that there is a lot of money in the drug dealing business. This means that people in the states will pay a lot of money for the exported drugs. the reason they are coming from Peru is because it is very hard to produce the drugs here in the states so they do it in Peru where there is little to no law enforcement. Although this also means they have to get the drugs into the US which is very hard to do. after trying many ways they discovered the best way to do this was by small plane, which brings us to we are now. “Officials in Peru say about half of the cocaine

The illegal substance problem in Bolivia is gradually improving due to the country's own effort; however, there are still issues to be resolved. One statistic that represents this growth in Bolivia, is:” According to a new report from UNODC, Bolivia has slowed down illicut coca production by 34%” (Rodger. 1.) This shows us that illegal coca production, which is used to produce the addictive and illegal substance cocaine, has been declining. This is good news for Bolivians and the world at large because it shows that the source of this drug is being controlled effectively.…

Would you be angry if you lost millions of dollars every year because people don’t pay their taxes? Well that’s how the government feels about illegal immigrants when they cross the U.S. and Mexico border. Illegal immigrants are crossing the border and are getting jobs in the United States, without any documents. American citizens are paying more taxes and that money goes to places like churches and charities that are protecting illegal immigrants so they can stay and get some money. A wall across the U.S. and Mexico border will protect American jobs and reduce crime because, jobs are being taken, illegal immigrants are not paying taxes on their jobs, and many criminals will not be able to smuggle items across the border.…

In fact during 1986, “Reagan issued the National Security Decision Directive 221, which designated narcotics a national security threat” and to deal with this “threat” he budgeted 1.7 billion dollars to control this cocaine epidemic (Marcy, 87). Reagan adamantly believed that the only way to gain results and end the cocaine influx, not just in Los Angeles, but throughout America was to deal with the problem head on. Nonetheless, the measly 1.7 billion dollars paled in comparison to the “17.9 billion dollars in FY in 2000” to “18.8 billion dollars in FY 2002” United States used for the Federal Drug Control Budget (United States Department of Justice, 9). And this amount continually increases to this day as the government utilizes as much money as they can to eradicate drug trafficking (which crack and powdered cocaine are 37.2% of since the year of 2013).…

Narco-terrorists use different tactics to move drugs from South America through Panama to North America because North America represents a big market of drugs selling. Normally, Narco-terrorists purchase cocaine in Colombia, Bolivia, or Peru at cheaper prices to sell them in North America at higher prices. For example, they can buy a kilogram of cocaine at $2,200 in Colombia; and later sell it from $53,000 to $55,000 in the United States of America.…

As stated earlier Mexico is not known as being a cocaine producing country but according to the FBI 93% of the cocaine that leaves South America destined for the United States travels directly through Mexico and the Southwest Border. Former President Felipe Calderon made a direct impact on how the drug cartels operate. He implemented new port security procedures and new tracking suspicious aircraft procedures which severely disrupted the way in which the cartels operate. The cartels were forced to break up their large drug shipments and make many small deliveries through more vulnerable routes. Shortly after these procedures were introduced the cost of cocaine in the U.S. began to rise and the purity of cocaine decreased.…
