I owe it immensely to my summer training program “Industrial familiarization” in HMT (Hindustan machine tools) cochin, where I realized how I had to proceed towards my goal. As in a training program I had an opportunity to visit all the shops right from casting, small parts machining, heavy parts machining, assembly, storage and dispatch etc, I received a detailed knowledge of the various processes involved in manufacturing of lathe machines and printing machines. After completing my training, I came to know about the problems that a manufacturing unit would face and the importance of practical applications of production and operations management techniques like optimization, forecasting, decreasing the cost of transportation etc. It is after this I decided that the immediate step towards my goal would be to pursue Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering as this provides me with knowledge about industry as well as help me gain valuable research
