During my attendance, I’ve had some experience of composing with the guidance from a teacher. This experience was immensely helpful in completion to my personal project, as I was able to construct an overall plan in preparation for the months ahead. During this experience, I’ve learnt that the first step of composing music is coming up with a harmony and melody based on a theme or mood. This was neatly recorded onto a computer programme, by connecting an electric piano to the computer system. Hall-Dale Middle School vs. Hall-Dale High School The transition from middle school to high school can be extremely difficult for some, as there are many differences between the two. “The switch to high school can be disastrous if a child doesn 't make the transition smoothly -- more kids fail ninth grade than any other grade.” There are similarities, but the differences outnumber the similarities greatly. Middle schoolers for the most part are partaking in a difficult and confusing time in their lives, as puberty is ongoing.…

I never really paid any attention to the saying keep your friends close but your enemies closer, that was until middle school. I rode the bus everyday, and I made sure I made friends with the people on the bus realizing that I will be stuck with these guys for a while. That's always been my mentality just stay under the radar and survive, but in this case I wanted to see if maybe this time I could change, even turn over a new leaf. Nobody knew who I was, just a another student passing by in a school of fishes. Around the last quarter of 8th grade year, I went on the bus as usual, and said hello to my friends, but weirdly enough nobody said anything back, I felt as though I was in the twilight zone or something.…

Theory of Change Management Peter Senge promotes the idea of a Learning Organization as a theory of change management in his book ‘The Fifth Discipline’. Senge (2006) encourages the “rethinking of corporate philosophy” and a commitment to individual learning to establish a learning organization. Individual learning, according to Senge (2006), does not guarantee a learning organization, but without it, learning organization is impossible. Individual learning, therefore, is key to the establishment of a learning organization. Encouragement for individual learning requires “tapping the potential of people” according to Senge (2006).…

I used riff which is a sequence of notes in a small number of bars that can be repeated to get a solid ground on the creation of my composition. Secondly, I used the piano for modulation and to follow one of the areas of study which informs me to use the primary chords and this is enforced by the use of modulation. Overall, I think that my composition uses lots of different techniques and ideas to link it to the style of reggae and I think that I have successfully linked this to the strand of World Music by using syncopation.…

Three years into my high school I hadn't gotten into the state of mind that most over achievers have. I had floated through high school thinking I was trying my very hardest to get good grades and become a consistently studious candidate of my school. However, no matter how hard I tried I failed I gave into all the distractions and used all my obstacles as excuses became frustrated and developed an attitude problem that I had created myself. Being a consistent 2.5 student wasn't satisfying or inspiring. Uniquely enough, I had decided to take challenging courses my junior year.…

Before even entering high school, I made a decision that would ruin the next few years. Looking back, I had no idea it would have impacted me as much as it did, but even now I still wouldn’t have changed that decision. Everything that came after that decision, no matter how difficult, shaped me into who I am today, and I was able to meet some pretty amazing people and do a few things only a handful of people can say they’ve done. In elementary school, I was in the S.C.O.P.E. (Spotsylvania County Program of Enrichment) program, my county’s way of separating out students who they considered gifted and a distraction in the classroom.…
