During the ride, I have spent a great deal of my time striving to not only better myself but also the lives of others I was blessed enough to meet. I have felt on top of the world through experiences, including a mission trip to Honduras, research opportunities, and working towards a medical device that will hopefully change the lives of children around the world. Oh. Like other research assistants, I assisted in conducting observational experiments with children, collected and compiled data into Excel, and established appropriate procedures and measures for data collection. When I started my shift, I felt physically drained and was counting down the hours until the little boy came into the lab. He was a ball of electricity and was fearlessly ready for me to administer the test. His bravery, alongside his boyish charm, had me laughing and elated; unknowingly, he had elevated my mood that day. It was after this experience that I knew my path was clear; I wanted to dedicate my life to helping children and doing everything in my power to make children feel as good as how the little boy had impacted me …show more content…
While I was there, I was part of a Global Brigades team that established the free open clinic and helped improve quality of patients’ care for multiple communities. One of the most memorable parts of this trip was during lunchtime; I was surrounded by my newfound children. To ensure I had enough energy for the rest of the day, a local female officer kept telling the children to leave me alone, then I assured her that it would be nice to enjoy their company and ended up sharing my lunch with the innocent hungry faces surrounding me. Even though I was hungry, this experience brought a firm belief that the presence of children ignites my energy levels. Their gratitude toward me warmed my heart and I will always hold that memory dear to my
