There are ways to improve this type of care, but it will take dedication and a hospital wide effort. Implementing mandatory training by professionals on how to give patient centered care should be incorporated into yearly competencies. Secondly, dealing with high patient to nurse ratios need to be examined so the nurse can spend more time with the patient and family. Achieving a first good impression will help the patient and family have a positive outlook on the patients care.
Also, having a patient or family advisor for the facility and family can help with care that is given to the patient run more smoothly, and questions answered, with the whole family present. I would be happy to set up a meeting in order to go over ways to implement this type of care at Orange Regional Medical Center. Speaking to other nurses and getting their ideas and information about ways to do this would be beneficial for the hospital. The nurses are the front runners in patient care, and their input should be taken into serious consideration. Testing this plan, and revising it before it is fully implemented, can only have positive outcomes for the hospital and patient
