Students who take fifth year will have more knowledge in their field of choice due to more time to learn different materials. Hence, it is not good if a student does not learn enough for a certain postsecondary program or else it will be difficult for the student. Also, I would arrange a meeting with my high school principal so that my parents can talk to a school official and ask any questions they may have. I would appeal to logos to try to persuade my skeptical parents that a gap year will be beneficial by showing them the results of students who passed their classes that took a gap year compared to students who did not take a gap year. Also, I would make a chart or graph with statistics that show taking a gap year is beneficial for me. I would appeal to pathos…

This phenomenon is called a gap year which defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is “a one-year hiatus from academic studies to allow for non-academic activities.” Many European countries are doing this method, where students take a year break after graduating high school but before college to give themselves time to do what they please without the anxiety and stress of academics. While a wide variety of students decide to proceed straight into college others would prefer to have a gap year. A gap year is when students take a year off away from the school. Students, who graduate from high school, should take a year off before starting a new chapter in life, therefore the gap year can allow the student to take a break from school and add excessive time to decide what career to excel in. The student should not take a gap year unless the student is sure of what career to pursue in.…
