With traditional courses, the student is in a typical classroom setting with a teacher. One example as to how they differ would be understanding the work could be easier than online. Having a teacher physically there to talk to tends to help students. The teacher could give examples and show the student how to do the work if there is confusion. Another example would be time management. Traditional courses are not flexible. They have set hours and days that the student must attend class. Instead of the class working around your schedule the student must now work their schedule around the class. If homework is assigned then it must be turned in by the next class whereas online homework is not due until the end of the week. My last example would be having responsibility. Students are responsible for showing up on time for class. They are also responsible for completing any assignments as well as studying. One example would be the assignments that are given in class. They most often have the same amount of assignments, quizzes, and tests. Either way the student will not have more work than that of the other method of teaching. Each assignment has a due date. Whether it is traditional or online the work has to be turned in by the due date assigned. Another example is commitment. In order to be in any class the student must commit to it. They have to take the class seriously. Nothing good comes from procrastination or messing around. Committing to the class also includes attending the class and doing the work. If one is serious about something they will do it right. My last example is the rewards. Either choice of learning can be very rewarding. By going to school on can receive the degree they longed for. Students have also been known to go into internships which help them in the long run. Also, the individual gains more knowledge, and what is more beautiful than knowledge? Online and traditional courses go hand in hand but, like most everything it has its differences. Both methods of learning strive to do one thing and that is to help students learn. Some might find that traditional courses are for them whereas others prefer online. It is also perfectly fine to attend both types of courses. George Evans once said “every student can learn just not in the same day or the same way.” Everyone has their own way of learning.
