The One Million Dollar Program embodies my belief that creating academic opportunities and supporting higher education coming together can create something powerful that goes far beyond what any one person can achieve alone. One Million Dollar is an outstanding, comprehensive, and intensity program that focusing on support towards academic excellence. What is most exciting is that students have the ability to participate in many academic activities throughout the year such as: tutoring, academic planning, advancing, financial assistance, and support for scholars transferring to a four year university. This program provides existing and incoming college students with the necessary skills and support to overcome the obstacles of college life. …show more content…
My educational journey has inspired my dream to attend a four year university and pursue a career in Finance. My own economic struggles, as well as the struggles of others in my home country of Guatemala have had a great influence on me. I have a strong desire to improve the lives of others with the knowledge and skills I gain. I am convinced that no one in the world plans to fail, the problem is so many fail to plan. As my journey continues, right now I am surrounded by hundreds of questions and thoughts about my transition to a four year university. I am fascinated by the work that this program do on developing an academic plan to guide scholars towards completing and obtaining a college degree. Initially, I did not have the means to go far. However, in facing the struggles that I was presented with in life, I was able to make decisions that opened many doors and inspired dreams for my future. At OMD, I would strive to become even more multifaceted and knowledgeable individual. In very few places can one encounter a program that focuses on all these facets, from tutoring to the transferring process to financial assistance for college students. I am seeking the kind of academic support that OMD community offers so I can build on my existing academic goals. Taking practical action to implement change is something that OMD provides to students because it clearly value and recognizes the struggles that many scholars like me are facing. What will you bring to the OMD community is an individual that matches their academic interests. As the OMD program, I want to help positively impact future generations and provide them with the tools to face the challenges that life presents in a more effective way.
