One of the main health problems in today’s society is that most kids are not being fully prepared to live a healthy life style and to prevent themselves from becoming obese. It is very important to start exercising at a young age for adolescents for a variety of reasons concerning physical health, prevention of future diseases, stable feelings and emotions, and to become more productive. This issue is widespread and is affecting adolescents nationwide and it’s up to parents, teacher, and coaches to care about how much and what kinds of physical activity kids are engaging in daily.

There are many effects of how obesity occurs in adolescents which include, inactive school activities, over protective parents, and screen time are just a few. In

For example girls and boys in the same PE class have the tendency to pick on each other and the guys are at the dominant and controlling side while the girls are left helpless to defend for themselves and they try to participate without feeling uncomfortable. While some girls can handle it, cause they have a thin role super model to look up to. As for the guys they have each other for support and their goals of becoming masculine like their role models. Certain attitudes are expressed from boys in younger adolescents that are demeaning towards girls. For certain reasons that include girls are unfit for sports because they are too feminine and are not strong enough to compete. Though for girls they are willing to compete if it’s more individual sports that include dance which gives them more comfort and ability to gain their own identities in their youth …show more content…
In a past physical activity program constructed and recorded by physical education teacher Joanne Gibbs, tested and monitored adolescent subjects to do certain exercises to increase their BMD (Bone Mineral Density). “The exercise program included a variety of vigorous, high-impact aerobic workouts, such as aerobics, modified soccer and Australian Rules football, step aerobics, bush dance, skipping, ball games, modern dance, and weight training” (Morris, Fiona). While doing these exercises with these kids he noticed that the exercises made them gain lean mass which also improved their bone density. “Implications from these findings are that the premenarcheal years may provide a window of opportunity for the bone modeling and remodeling process to respond to mechanical loading” (Morris). This means that it’s crucial that students in stages of puberty ages from 13-16 should start doing weight bearing exercises which will benefit them for the future since they will have stronger bones to stay active which will be a helpful to be more readily
