For example, Everett is more centered on the job at hand when Odysseus becomes diverted. After Odysseus saves his men from the grasp of Circe, the crew stays on the island for a year while Odysseus sleeps with Circe. The men have to force Odysseus to leave and head back home. The men state to Odysseus “Captain this is madness! High time you though of your own home at last, if it really is your fate to make it back alive and reach your well-built house and native land.” (Book 10, Lines 520-523, page 263). Odysseus promised his men that he would guide them home and instead he was caught up and mesmerized by sleeping with a goddess for a year. After Everett and his two men are wooed into the trap by three woman by the river, they wake up discover Pete is missing. In the movie Everett escapes from jail while Odysseus escapes from Calypso and various other monsters including Polythemus and Charybdis. Everett escapes from the chain gang group with Pete and Delmar thus assembling his crew while Odysseus has his crew who want to return to Ithaca. When the men escape and try to travel by railroad they meet a man with railroad cart. They hitch a ride from him and he is apparently blind. The blind man is a fortuneteller who predicts the future of the main characters. This man relates to Tiresias from the Underworld predicting the future for Odysseus and his crew. When the the chain gang escapees are taking refugee I the barn house Cousin Washington Hogwallop is a “pig” that needed money so he told the cops the whereabouts of the escapees. In they Odyssey, the goddess Circe turns Odysseus crew into pigs. When the Wet Soggy Bottom Boys enter into a radio station to record their music they meet a blind man who is the radio record man.
