Myself Before the Marine Corps, and Myself After

Before I had joined the Marine Corps I was much different than I am now. During high school it was as if I was sleep walking through my entire life. I had no ambitions, and I had now worries. A worry free life might be what some people are looking for, but I found that I lacked responsibility and discipline. During school I would either sleep or simply ignore the instructor, my attention to detail was completely nonexistent. I sat by and watched as all of my friends started on the road to self-actualization and became young adults. Not only am I more humble I am also more open minded about cultures and peoples. I see everyone as equal and not for the place they come from or the way they look. Before the Marine Corps I lived a sheltered life. I was taught to believe what my parents believed and that was that. This became a difficult obstacle to get over when joining the Marine Corps. I was introduced to a melting pot of sorts where people from all different walks of life lived together and depended on each other. I quickly began to realize that all these people were my friends and that judging a book by its cover is a very ineffective way of judging a person. When I was in high school I felt as though I was a god, I could take on anything and anyone, after joining the Corps I definitely know I am NOT a god, and I do have extreme limitations. What would life be without a ton of obstacles in the way? From birth to now I have felt change inside myself many times, I have changed my likes and dislikes, my personality, and my goals. But one thing is for sure, joining the Marine Corps was the biggest life changer of all. In a span of three months I was completely changed for the better and I have no regrets about joining the Corps. Although it may have not turned out the way I had wanted it to, I am a better person for join the United States Marine Corps, and I owe it for everything I may accomplish in the
