My Motivation In College

Before I attended college, I knew that I had to find a motivator in order to give me the drive necessary to attain my dreams, in spite of the hefty coursework associated with higher education. Although my motivation has altered little over the course of time, it’s been expanded so I can reach my numerous intellectual goals. As a chemistry major, I’m highly motivated to reach my aspirations of obtaining my Ph.D., which allows me very little time to ensure the well-being of my health. In addition to pursuing a field in science, I’m also a member of the honors program, so I have many sources of stress in regards to the massive amount of coursework that I must have completed in a relatively short time frame. In the beginning, I only wanted to receive my doctorate in chemistry. In order to do well in chemistry, I understood that I would have to spend the majority of my time on calculus. As a high school student, I thought that I would never be able to understand math. As a result, I disliked it, and I thought that I would have to suffer through calculus as a college student. After I struggled and focused on it extensively for the first few weeks, I realized, however, that I could do it! I not only was able to solve calculus problems, but I became fascinated by the process. I know now that my dedication is paying off due to my “A” for the course at the middle of the semester. I’m hoping to challenge myself by minoring in math, but I also want to accomplish this since it will make my application to Berkeley or MIT even stronger than if I was a chemistry major alone. Although I initially wanted to focus solely on a major in chemistry to become a professor, I’ve since expanded my motivation to succeed in college to include a math minor, which will lead me to challenge myself to do my best in math while expanding my know-how in …show more content…
Although I work hard, and I have the same grade in this course as I do in chemistry and calculus, the amount of reading that the professor assigns is daunting, and I don’t think that I did very well on the last test. I don’t know exactly the way in which I have to achieve the goals of the course, since I can’t focus on any one aspect well if I want to also complete the workload. In order to handle it, I will attend my professor’s office hours, and read less when convenient, and more when it’s actually assigned. Due to my emphasis on my other classes, I’ve neglected to achieve in the testing aspect of psychology, which I will remedy by attending office

Alternate Major A general curiosity of numerical calculations in the existence of matter is the major root-cause for majoring in Chemistry. In essence, a lack thereof of such curiosity fuels the desire to transition from Chemistry to another science-related fields. One popular change is from Chemistry to Biology. I personally think that changing my major to Biology will be the easy route to take because the comparison between the two illustrates a rather compelling idea of 39 credits to obtain a Bachelors in Science in Biology, as compared to the 48 credits required for a Bachelors in Chemistry.…

My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…
