Education is a major component of our society. Each culture has its own traditions on education, and there are many different philosophies on education. There are so many people that are involved in the educational system, and I feel that it is important to express my own philosophy on education.
Of course, one purpose of education is to help to develop children emotionally. In the educational setting students learn manners, how to respect their peers and their elders. Another important purpose of education is to guide students to decide where their interests lie. I feel that it is very important to provide a wide range of subject areas, so that students may explore diverse areas, so experience different things, so that they can develop curiosity and concentration in areas that interest them. For example, students often ask themselves, and their teachers, why they have to take a certain class, or learn a certain concept. I recently experienced this first hand. When I came to The College of New Jersey, I had already decided that my major would be Secondary Education and Spanish.
