How do we as humans define greatness? We see it as a noun meaning the quality of being distinguished going above and beyond what we as people consider average or mediocre, and reaching accolades few or none has reached before. When it comes to greatness it is all about seizing the opportunity. A motivational speaker by the name Les Brown once said, “the wealthiest place on earth is the graveyard”,.He stated that “the graveyard holds a bunch of potential that the world never got to see, it holds potential that could have reached greatness”. Greatness is met in different kinds of genres, such as sports, politics, technology, etc. Greatness is also remembered for a lifetime, it becomes a significant event in the field of which that person has …show more content…
A man by the name of Chris Widener wrote an article called “Make Greatness Your Goal”, this article was written for the purposes of given awareness to those who want to be successful. If you want to be successful in your certain field look at the people prior to you people consider greats and make their accomplishments your target, your goal and reach for it, if you can not surpass them get as close as possible to that standard so close to where you are almost identical to them. Widener talks about this point in his article, Widener stated, “Maximize targeted end result. Begin with the end in mind. What end results do you want? Be specific.” That statement gives you an aspect of what it takes to be great. Always start off with a goal and a prediction for the future.Widener also wrote, “Make distinction your endeavor. When you have two people who have reached greatness in the same field or job and their accomplishment are very close to identical, that is when it creates arguments in the world. People start picking sides, going back to back about who were better or who did it better when it really doesn’t matter because they both are above the world standards for average. Jim Collins is a man that has the same opinion as me towards this point. Collins wrote an article titled, “The Secret of Enduring Greatness”. This article basically went over how people should stop comparing and contrasting those things we consider great or out of the ordinary and just adore their accomplishments. Collins also goes over how if see it in a different point of view how different you will feel about it. For instance, your location can have a big perspective on how you feel about a certain achievement from a person, your level of understanding can as well, or your level of intellect can affect your feelings toward
