Personal Narrative : My Sister And I

My sister and I were spending summer of 2007 with my mom and her husband in San Antonio, Texas. It was an early and beautiful Tuesday morning in San Antonio. I woke up with an overwhelming need to talk to my dad that was back home in Dallas, Texas. I called and called and there was no answer, which was very odd since he had been working since 6am. After what seemed like the millionth time trying to reach him somebody picked up the phone. I was surprised, I wasn’t my dad’s sweet voice. The man in the other side of the phone immediately asked to speak to my mother. Since my mother did not speak English I had to speak to him and translate to my mom. The man said “Karen, your dad was in an accident. I advise you to come see him now”. My dad was a welder and always worked on very tall building structures so I immediately knew it was something extremely serious.
The few hours that took us to get make it to Baylor Hospital were hell. My mother was calling family members and letting everyone know about what happed. We finally made it to the hospital. One of my aunts was waiting outside of the hospital for us. I will never forget her face she made when she saw my sister and I. She immediately started to cry and rushed us to my dad’s room. There were so many of our relatives there and every single one of them was crying. At this point I was thinking the worst and just wanted to see my dad.
