Stereotypes In The Movie The Help

The movie the help is about a group of maids and their relationship with a white female journalist. Rather than a movie about the dark racial past, the movie shatters some common stereotypes. The movie shows that in a time when Jim Crow laws were still standing that Caucasian Americans and African Americans can come together for a common cause. The movie starts off with Aibileen talking to Skeeter telling her about where she was born and what she does with the family she works for. In the movie the journalist, whose name is Skeeter, comes back from college and is hoping to become a writer.

Skeeter asks a question about kids that makes her uncomfortable and asks to move to another question. Aibileen tells Skeeter that she has some stories written down that she wants to tell her instead of answering questions. Minnie went to start working for Celia Foote. She started to teach her how to cook and some of her remedies that involve Crisco. She finishes cooking and sits down to eat but Celia comes and sits with her but she’s not use to a white woman wanting to eat with her so when Celia sits down with her, her first thought is to sit her I the dining room but she refuses to go in there and says she is sitting with her in the kitchen. Then hilly tells Skeeter to but out her newsletter and Skeeter changes it a bit and Hilly ends up with toilets in her yard instead of what she wanted. Aibileen was going home that night from work and was told to get off of the bus y the bus driver because an African American male was shot by the KKK. Minnie is talking to Aibileen about how unfair their lives are unfair and about how she was scared about if the KKK caught them talking to Skeeter what they might do. Aibileen told her they have to be careful. One of Aibileens friends was arrested by the police for trying to pawn a ring and that was enough to get all of the maids needed to finish her book.
