Short Summary Of Scrooge Short Story

There was once an old, avaricious, mean, cold hearted man named Ebenezer Scrooge. He lived in London, England. And he hated Christmas more than anything. He thought that Christmas was humbug. The only thing he hated more than Christmas was love. And while the city prepared for christmas, singing christmas carols and buying food and presents for Christmas was the next day, Scrooge remained in his counting house. His nephew went to see him to invite him to a christmas dinner. But Scrooge although he was rich he was bitter to celebrate Christmas, while his nephew Fred who was poor, was merry to celebrate it. Without warning, the lights in the room flashed up and the curtains of his bed were drawn. Scrooge sat up and found himself face to face with the unearthly visitor. The spirit looked like a child who wore a pure white tunic and had a crown on his head, which gave off a huge amount of light. He also had a cap, which he holded on his arm, so he could extinguish his bright light. He was the ghost of Christmas Past, more specifically of Scrooge’s past christmases. Scrooge went with the ghost to the past, to where he had been born. There the ghost tells him that the people there are shadows of things that have passed, and so the people can’t see Scrooge nor the Spirit. In the past Scrooge remembers that he was a solitary neglected boy when he was young, that he had had a sister, named Fan, who had died as a women and who had had one son, Scrooge’s nephew, and that he had worked in a bar. He also remembered how his wife, Belle, left him for the fact that he loved money more than her, since he became rich. And then he heard someone who commanded him to enter into the room. When he entered he saw that his own room had been redecorated as if for a christmas dinner. There also was a jolly Giant sitting in a couch. It wore a green robe and it had a torch in his hand. His beard and hair were dark brown. This was the ghost of christmas present, and he was very joyful. Then when Scrooge touched the giant’s robe, the room vanished and he saw what was happening below in the city. There were people walking around, finishing the last decorations for Christmas and there were kids playing around with their friends. Whenever the spirit sprinkled his torch, which he did very often, he gave the people happiness and good humor. They went through the city until they got to Mr.Cratchit's house, where they were about to have a family dinner for Christmas. Then Mr.Cratchit appears with Tiny Tim upon his shoulders.Tiny Tim had a little crutch and his limbs were supported by an iron frame. Tiny Tim was crippled. Bob more than anyone loved him, he wished to keep him by his side always, and he dreaded that Tiny Tim might be taken from him. All the Cratchits had the hope, that he lived. Scrooge, with a sudden interest that he had not had before, asked the spirit if the child was going to live. The spirit responded that if nothing changed, then Tiny Tim will die. And so they moved on to his nephew’s house, where they were having the dinner
