In recent years, mobile technology have become a dominate way to communicate with others. For my Social work 300 class, I was ask to pick a time management problem that have impact my live. For this assignment, I decided to study the number of times I texted in a 24-hour period. Text messaging manifested into a problem when I was eighteen years old. It was the first time I received a cell phone. It new for me and it became addictive. Before receiving a cell phone, I would use only use the land phone about once or twice a month. I found the land phone to be impersonal.
Soon after receiving my own phone, I found myself texting non-stop. I found texting to be more convenient to both myself and others than calling. This became problem for me because …show more content…
Research “suggests that BBM and WhatsApp consumers should turn off their smart phones in situations that require conscious attendance, such as while driving, while gathering with friends and family members, and while enjoying a romantic date with a partner.” (Sultan, 2014). Turning off cell phone while having conversations or at gathering will allow the client to be mindful of his or her surroundings and build stronger relationships with others. Similar to my intervention, I would have the client first record data on the number of times he/she have texted in 24-hour for 10 days. Before starting the intervention, I would discuss with the client to understand if the client is aware of his or her problem. Also, we would discuss how the problem manifested itself. Afterwards, I would have them impediment this intervention and record the behavior for another ten days. When the client finish recording the data, I would then have a discussion with the client to see if they understand and if there were any change to this
