There is a recurring theme of eyes throughout the whole film: eyes to unlock doors and eyes to identify people and convict criminals. The audience is first introduced to the theme of the eye at the very opening cuts of the film. This shows that eyes will be a recurring motif throughout the movie. In almost every important moment of the rising action, there is something to do with an eye. For example, John gets his eye scanned in order to enter almost any building: the Precrime center, the Pregog’s temple, and stores in the shopping center. John also gets his own eyes taken out and replaced with someone else’s in order to go unidentified and run from the police. Another literary technique is the use of foreshadowing events. It is the kind of film where the audience thinks that they’ve figured out the plot, but ends up being wrong 100 percent of the time. There are so many plot twists woven into the whole movie from the beginning to the end. The overall quality of the movie is amazing and the storyline is so unique and different from any other film that someone might assume is similar. The film is also a reflection of society today. Sometimes, people are convicted of something that they didn’t do. There isn’t really a fool-proof way of proving someone’s innocence or guilt. This is true in the Minority Report as well. When John is about to shoot Crow, Agatha keeps reminding him by saying “you have a choice.” This proves that the Precrime system is not always accurate and can be faulty, just like the justice system in the U.S.
