Should Government Replace Direct Democracy?

Nowadays, an increasing numbers of Americans are arguing that whether U.S should carry out direct democracy to replace representative democracy in U.S government system or not. Direct democracy means people vote for what they want and they do not need a government to interfere with the issues of their nation. However, I think direct democracy cannot be put into practice in the United State. If a nation is without a government, it will be anarchy and chaos. Some negative effects will appear in society.. In the history, America used to be anarchy and many people died in violence or starving. After a prototype of government which was built by John Smith, people's lives is getting better and the social system becoming more stable (Deans 2007). I will use specific reasons and examples to prove why we need a government and direct democracy is not applicable of the United States. First, government can keep the citizen live in peace. The reason is that government will use special methods to interfere a nation's economic, national defense, education, to let people’s lives get better and promote a nation’s development. For instance, edible salt is the fundamental demand of human body and people need it every day. Monarchy means king or queen has the 100% power to dominate the nation. And after the king died, his son will inherit his throne. China used to be monarchy for more than thousand years.
