Social Worker Case

When I was presented with this case I was not given much information about this client. I was told that the patient is a 59-year-old male entered the hospital through the emergency department and was being admitted to my floor. This man’s name is unknown as is his address and other contact information. This patient entered the hospital with diabetes, chronic gangrene and osteomyelitis of the foot. So far this patient has been uncooperative to treatment.
Throughout this case you are able to see various micro and macro level components and practice issues. This patient appears to be untrusting of the hospital staff. Therefore, one of the first micro level components is that a relationship needs to be built between this patient and myself. Another

One role I would have when working with this client is that I would be working on building a trusting relationship with him, which guide us in our work together. Another role I would have as this man’s social worker is that I would be responsible for advocating for him. I would need to be aware of this individuals wants and needs and I would need to keep his best interest in mind at all times when working with him. As his social worker, it will be important for me to explain his options to him and to make sure he is well educated about his conditions. One of my roles as this man’s social worker will also be to provide him with resources (i.e., doctors, medications, counselors, etc.). It will also be my job to make sure that this man is safe and comfortable at all times. As his social worker I would never want him to feel alone while in the hospital and I would do my best to locate family/friends who could support him throughout this …show more content…
This stage of the process is also very important. During the intervention phase I would take what was developed during the planning phase and apply it to working with this client. I would do my best to make him understand that his health is at risk and that it is in his best interest to consent to treatment. I would also do my best during this phase to keep the client as clam as possible and make sure that he stays under control. During the intervention stage I would do my best to respect this clients wishes, but I also need to get him to understand what is at stake. If it appeared that the client was not capable of making his own decisions then we would have to move into a different process of getting him treatment without his
