When discussing the greatest competitors in NFL history the name that resonates above all is New England’s very own, Tom Brady. Number twelve has been competing for a spot on the field ever since his days at the University of Michigan. For two years Brady worked his way up a dense depth chart. When he was afforded the chance the future superstar took advantage of his opportunity. When talking about earning the starting spot during his Junior season Brady is quoted stating, “Looking back, that was the turning point in my football career” (Rust). Even after a solid Junior campaign, going into his Senior year he was initially benched behind an up-and-coming Sophomore quarterback who showed solid potential. In his San Jose Mercury news article on Moss, Daniel Brown sums up the end of the receiver’s tenure in Oakland by stating, “…by then Moss ' performance in Oakland had been so appalling that few teams were interested in talking trade” (Brown). This all changed when Moss arrived in New England. With the help of the league’s best quarterback Moss was able to break the single-season touchdown reception record, and help the Patriots to the National Football League’s first ever 16-0 season. Not only was Tom Brady able to establish the career of an unknown, undersized 5-foot-9 wide out, but he was able to resurrect what looked like a wasted career for one of the league’s very best.
