Critical analysis of “Badgerette Showcase”
I attended the dance concert called “Badgerette Showcase” on March 3, 2016 at 7:30 PM in Horne Activity Center. This concert consisted of 21 unique performances performed by a lot of Utah schools, dance groups and cheerleaders. I picked 4 performances that I liked the best and I am going to be writing about them. Before the show started, the coach introduced all Badgerettes that are in the team this year and that were performing that night.
First performance that I really liked is called “Get It” by Badgerettes. It is choreographed by Chalyn Dye. It started with about 15 girls in the middle of the podium. In the rhythm of the music they spread around using the space pretty well. Footwork and arm waving was used and went with the music. I don’t think the name of the dance “Get It” meant anything. It was choreographed by Brooke Cherry. Dancers, ages around 9 10, were wearing blue dresses with white polkadots and as a prompt everyone had a broom. At the beginning one by one started popping out and standing up as they were all down on the floor before the music started. Movement was very synchronized which means that all girls were doing the same thing. The name of the dance “Dear Future Husband” was the name of the song used for this performance. Lighting didn’t have any effect to the performance, as said in the previous part. Choreographer made this dance look really fun, and appropriate for little girls that were dancing it. They were in no way shape or form professionals, but getting there. I liked the dance because the song they were dancing to has a strong message about what a girl deserves and how a man should be treating her. Even though it was a sloppy dance, those girls were
