The Market segment that has been targeted by Tesla in the first place was Sports premium electric cars with high-end Prices. Indeed, it was confirmed by launching the model Roadster as the First-Tesla product to be marketed. Soon the model S was launched to tackle the Sports premium sedan segment to capture more market share as well as lately the model X for the luxury SUV segment.

The premium luxury automobiles industry takes up to 15% of the total automotive industry and with a high purchasing power among consumers. Therefore, Tesla wanted to introduce an alternative in this specific market segment as there were no high end fully electric cars at that time.

Tesla has developed a line of luxurious electric vehicles that combines performance and style, while still maintaining a competitive price. Tesla’s Model S and Model X were designed to be the best electric performance cars on the market and still are one of the most affordable vehicles in that specific market segment.

According to the annual report of Tesla, it is main revenues comes from 4 main countries: USA, China, Norway, and Netherlands. Those countries represent Tesla’s main target market.
In 2017, Tesla Sales have tripled the sales in China giving Tesla an edge over other automakers in the luxury car segment of the automobile markets. Certainly, Tesla’s model 3 will let it consolidate its place in the world and especially EU, USA and China to let the company be profitable in the long run.
