As defined by Google, an abortion is “the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.” Like many other things, abortions are a very controversial topic in which everyone has their own opinion on. With that being said, two different groups have emerged to support either side of the story. These groups are referred to as “pro-life” and “pro-choice.” The main topic these terms come down to is whether abortion should or should not be banned. The history of abortions began in the 1800’s. Do to the lack of methods, few antiseptics, and high mortality rates, abortion was a dangerous procedure at this time. It was not until 1880 that abortions became illegal in the United States, except those in which the woman 's life was in danger. With abortions being illegal, the only way for women to stop an unwanted pregnancy was to resort to deadly and dangerous methods. Women would insert knitting needles or coat hangers into the vagina and uterus and even swallow drugs and chemicals. Because of the many stages of development, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly where a human being’s life begins. These people believe that all humans, including the unborn, have the right to live and the right to be loved. For this reason, they also believe abortion is wrong and that it is murder. In 41 states, abortions can be performed on any pregnant woman who is 28 weeks pregnant or less; after that abortion is no longer a choice. At 28 weeks an unwanted pregnancy would have to be terminated surgically because the baby has grown its body parts, eyebrows, eyelids, tastebuds, and even its lungs. Pro-life supporters believe this is way more than enough to consider the fetus a
