This book is a “ coming of age” story about four young women; Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. The story takes places during the Civil War while the girls father is away in the war and there mother is caring for them. Throughout the story the girls learn many lessons on wealth, selflessness, and working hard. Louisa creates these character in a very relatable way that makes almost any reader feel connected. Little Women in today’s world is an American classic for all people especially girls. Her life story might not be well known but it is defiantly displayed through her stories. She was able to not only display her life but her belief and morals in her stories. I feel this is a major reason why they are so loved because people can feel her in the writing. My mom told me while I was researching, that Little Women was her favorite book as a girl. Her favorite character was Jo because of her desire to be what women would not normally be and stepping out of the constants of society.
