Register to read the introduction… Life After Children Being a mother has brought on a big change in my life. The life before becoming a mother was enjoyable. Even though, I have children, my life is still enjoyable and I have lots of love for my children. My children are my blessings. The changes that occurred in my life are: sleep, money, and responsibility. Before I had children, I use to party all night and I slept all day. I was still at home with my parents and they treated me like a baby. I did not have to worry about anyone waking me up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. I got plenty of rest. After all the partying and hanging out all night, I ended up pregnant. My whole life changed like a twinkle of an eye. I had a baby girl and in the hospital, she was the most precious little thing you ever laid eyes on. Bringing her home from the hospital was like “Nightmare on Elm Street.” There was no more sleeping all night and half the day for me. My baby had her days and nights mixed up. I had to change my sleep patterns to sleep when she slept. Later on in life, I had three more precious children. Altogether, I have four children. After having all these children, sleeping was something I did not get to do that …show more content…
The only person I had to worry about was me. I did not have to worry about preparing a meal, because my mother prepared all the meals. When I had to get dressed, the only person I had to worry about was me. After my children came along, I had to learn how to prepare meals. Preparing meals was difficult, because each child did not like the same things. When I would get up in the mornings, I had to get myself dressed and my children. It was hard getting four little children dressed and dressing myself. I would have to get up earlier to get all of us dressed when we had to go somewhere. Being a mother has been a challenge. It is not a job that I can clock in or out, it is a twenty-four hour job. My children are my responsibility and they require a lot of my time and energy. They have brought great joy into my

Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

Upon bringing home a newborn child, parents are faced with many questions and decisions to make about how to care for their child. One for the many debates that parents face, is sleeping arrangements for their child and how to manage them waking up at night. According to Loutzenhiser, 2014 “night- waking is considered to be the most common sleep problem for infants” p. 282. When the child is young, it is extremely likely that the parents will respond immediately, since the child waking at this age probably means that the child needs to be changed or fed, which is something that should be taken care of immediately. As they age, there are many different methods a parent can use in reaction to the child’s nighttime awakenings.…

Should school start at a later time? Of course students will agree. Even a brain doctor declared that "Making teens start school in the morning is ‘cruel,’”.(British newspaper headline in 2007). It is proven that teenagers need more sleep than any other age group because of the fact that teenagers are in a important part of their growth and development. “So what are the facts about teenage slumber, and how should society adjust to these needs?”…

No matter what, every single day somebody is being judged and labeled. Whether or not a person is overweight, underweight, mentally challenged, we are all being judged. Furthermore, growing up in a conservative, white, Christian family, has taught me many things about how I am expected to act, as well as which actions are acceptable or unacceptable. My culture and religious views molded me into believing that it was acceptable to judge others and be intolerant of different groups of people. In my family, you were expected to wait until married to have sex, then it was appropriate to have a child.…

There have been a few educational challenges that I had to overcome. Considering the fact that I was not born in this country puts me at a disadvantage from someone who was born here. English was not my 1st language, Spanish was, growing up in the Dominican Republic most of my life until the age of seven. Learning English was a challenge that I overcame with hard work and repetitive studying of words that are now primitive to me. Another educational challenge was not having a parental supervision while I was in home from school.…

Becoming a mother is the most difficult and rewarding thing I have ever experienced in my life. Carrying a child in my womb for nine months and going through labor was something that was sometimes very hard. But once that was all over and I got to hold my new bundle of joy, a baby boy named Zeeden, it was all worth it. Early morning of March 29th, 2010, I woke up and had to run to the bathroom to puke. I don 't usually throw up.…

In recent years I’ve come to terms with the fact that I need at least 8 hours of sleep to be able to function normally during the day and ideally between 9 and 10 to feel fully rested and energised all day. On average, in the past six days I got 8.8 hours of sleep, one night I only got 7.5 hours, the lowest in my recording, and the most I got was 10 hours. The night I was able to sleep for 10 hours (9/23), I felt fairly happy, not stressed, and quite energized even though I was fairly anxious throughout the day. On the other hand, the night I only slept for 7.5 hours (9/27), I had hardly any energy, I wasn’t alert mentally, and I felt generally bad. Now, it’s impossible for me to say that the amount of sleep I got was the deciding factor in…
