This paper evaluates the critical success factors within an e-learning ecosystems namely the principles and methods, processes and systems, and substance and content of teaching and learning. A qualitative approach was adopted to evaluate the critical success factors involving two principal data collection methods; a thorough and systematic review literature and in-depth interviews with e-learning providers. The interviewees corroborated the need for an effective model of e-learning in which, each of these factors provide impetus to each other by functioning as a unit, contributing to overall e-learning success. Sustainability in this context refers to refer to the procedures and practices to ensure the continued viability and success of e-learning education. The three critical building blocks of e-learning ecosystem apart from the learning and teaching communities are the principles and methods of teaching and learning, processes and systems of teaching and learning, and substance and content of teaching and learning. Therefore, it is fundamental that these three components function as a unit by supporting each other in an e-learning environment. Many existing studies in this context have examined the effectiveness of the principles and methods of teaching and learning ( ), processes and systems of teaching and learning ( ), and substance and content of teaching and learning ( ) to enhance the e-learning success. However, it is critical to effectively addressing complex interactions between these three components of e-learning ecosystem [Demidova et al., 2005; Yang et al., 2006a; Tzeng et al., 2007; McPherson and Nunes, 2008]. Towards fulfilling this objective, this study evaluates the critical success factors entwined among these e-learning ecosystem facets in an e-learning environment.
