Leadership in an organization is a significant figure has it affects the values, performance, and the culture of the organization. Thus, it is important for the leaders to act as a good example to motivate the workers thus increasing the productivity and performance in the workplace. The situational leadership theory thus enables the dealers to guide the staff in understanding what is expected of them, the best norms and practices in the organization thus creating the desired leadership culture in the organization. As the leaders adopt his leadership style to fit the current situation amongst the employees, the creation of mutual understanding comes in the running of the organization. The situational leadership model.
The follower’s maturity in this theory is determined by task skills and motivation, the task skills represents the knowledge and ability of the follower in the workplace. For the motivation, the desire for the employees to accomplish a specific duty in relation to their psychological maturity. These two levels provide readiness levels which are divided into telling, selling, participating and delegating.
This theory provides room for the leader’s flexibility; this ensures that the leaders copes with the current leadership requirements shown by the employees depending on the situation available. The theory is precise and gives clear outline of how the leaders should act effectively. The theory has weakness has it creates confusion in situations where there is no consistency from the employees. The theory also is more in management than in leadership which makes the communication between the leaders and subordinate poor. The theory makes it hard to understand when the commitment set is
