They one thing they own is their reputation and it its gone then they are done forever. Le Fresne is different; she is strong woman with good manners. She controls herself and people respected her for that, but if she give in to her feelings people would have judged her harshly. She is willing to give her love to another woman because she wants to please her lover. Le Fresne sacrifice her sprang from pure and innocent love. She is motivated by love and gratitude.
