Kevin Mitnick Analysis

Kevin Mitnick is an interesting person. Throughout the whole video I noticed that he laughed a lot, especially when he was talking about his past as a hacker. To me, that showed that he was not sorry for what he had done and it showed arrogance. Although the video was not a particularly long one, it had enough information in it to paint a picture as to the person that Mitnick is today. At first I was not a fan of Mitnick, but later I started to warm up to him a tad. Overall, I enjoyed this video and found it to be very informative. I do not agree with his view of himself, when he was heavily involved in hacking, as a prankster. Breaking into computer systems without permission is not pranking, its stealing. He knowingly made copies of the …show more content…
As mentioned in the previously, making copies of information without a company’s knowledge is definitely theft, especially in this case where the information was private. Now, if he were to make copies of information already known to the public, then I could see where it could be perceived that he did not actually take anything. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Moreover, I believe that his motives for hacking were for intellectual challenges. I believe that he got a high off of successfully manipulating someone into leaking private information and from successfully coping said information without anyone’s knowledge. It was like he was proving to himself he was very intelligent and no one could compare, and nothing could stop him because he was unstoppable. Finally, I do believe that there is such a thing as ethical hacking. He received permission from these companies to hack into their system and show them where they need to be stronger, how to identify bad guys, and how to increase their security measures. He did help those companies in the end and as far as I can tell from the video, he did not make copies of information. They knew what they were signing up for. He did not go behind their backs, so he says. If someone goes behind someone’s back and hacks into their computer and takes private information, then that is illegal. If someone gives another person permission to do so, and that person does not take private information but merely hacks into it to show the need for them to increase security and change some things, then that is ethical as long as both parties are aware of everything taking

Gender inequality in the workplace is prevalent now and has been for hundreds of years even with the presence of laws and policies that forbid it. Kristen Schilt the author of “Just One of the Guys?” targets how natural difference schemas shape today’s workplace and reinforce gender inequality. She does so by using both open and stealth transmens’ experiences in the workplace to provide examples of how natural difference schemas are prevalent and hard to undo. Schilt also highlights how race, height, sex, and masculinity can benefit or hurt one's place in work world. Before understanding how natural difference schemas shape the workplace, fully understanding what a natural difference schema is necessary.…

It is no secret that racism is still a big problem today. People in our society to this day still think that it is okay to treat people differently based of the color of their skin or ethnicity. Tim Wise mentioned in his speech at the University of San Fransisco that since racism isn't always easy to talk about, color blindness and color muteness is becoming an increasing problem. The concept of Race was socially constructed when the European’s discovered people that looked different from them. They thought of themselves as being superior than the rest, thus racism began.…

Reading a standard American history textbook from cover to cover, one would likely not run across many references to the natural world. Occasionally the author mentions the influence of mineral discoveries, or devastating natural disasters such as earthquakes and dust storms, but never how the environment molded the societies that developed within it. Ted Steinberg’s Down to Earth: Nature’s Role in American History is a noticeable departure from this methodology. His ambitious goal is simple, “to change the way you think about American history.” (Steinberg, ix)…

Lessons in a Season Throughout the American Crime series, many issues were brought up throughout the season regarding ethical issues. These issues, are most that society does not bring up in open conversation as they are difficult to discuss. These issues include racism, sexism, stereotypes, bigotry, discrimination and many more. The series brought light and attention to these things with an amazing story about a boy in high school who was allegedly rapped by another teen. A Balance of Words & Pictures Among his revolutionary works, Scott McCloud’s graphic essay, “Show & Tell” emphasizes the effectiveness of combining words and pictures while addressing a general audience of various ages, consisting of cartoonists, writers, artists, and readers. The Show-and-Tell vignette, at the beginning of the essay, explains to the audience how a story can be difficult to understand when words and images are separated or used improperly. Throughout the graphic essay, the didactic tone teaches the reader the benefits of using words and pictures harmoniously, rather than following the traditional thinking of separating art and literature. McCloud was able to create such a tone by reflecting on a young child’s experience using words and images interchangeably and by using the dance metaphor to demonstrate the powerful relationship between words and image.…
