Jack the Ripper is a serial killer and still nowadays is remembered by the impeccable crimes he committed which didn’t attach him to any direct suspect. In this book, Patricia Cornwell narrates the story in her point of view where Walter Sickert, a painter and printmaker, was known for painting Jack´s crime scenes. Many of these paintings are all around the world and some of them were used against Sickert to blame him. Other perfect suspects could have been Prince Albert Victor who suffered from syphilis and the infection may have driven him insane causing him to commit the crimes. Frederick Bailey Deeming, his first wife, and children were found dead under the floor boards of his house with their throats slashed. His second wife´s throat …show more content…
The name “Ripper” was given to him due to the fact that he only used a knife to kill his victims by injuring their throats until death. The killer hated the police, for this reason he wrote many letters to the police officers and to the press. With this, he only wanted to desperate the ones who were anxious to catch him. In the majority of his letters, he was very sarcastic and he had more than 5 different handwritings, He used artist paper and usually murdered prostitutes by cutting their throats and disemboweling them. Besides the letters, Jack the Ripper never left any evidence in the crime scenes, still, the police did many investigations in the letters to find a fingerprint or DNA on the paper they were written. The police actually found DNA Mitochondria in 5 letters out of 48 recollected. Notwithstanding, this was not enough information to unmask the person behind all these murders. Other complications appeared such as the death of the policeman in charge of the case, the transportation of files to other offices, and even the destruction of them due to the World War I.

Jack the Ripper victims were: Martha Tabram, Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddwes, and Mary Kelly. All were old, ugly and prostitutes known as “The
