It’s never too late I have decided to go back to school, to make a difference and impact lives; to take the challenge of living and not just existing. I am 60 years old, and it’s a “now or never” kind of a thing, but as they say “It’s never too late,” to get an associate degree in psychology and write a book. A song, a quote and a few selected women come to mind as I venture into this path of attending Colorado Christian University. The song “It’s the Climb” by Millie Cyrus sings: “It ain’t about how fast I get there, it ain’t about what’s on the other side. It’s the climb” The song goes on to describe the journey we travel in this life, and the challenges we face, and our reactions to them; to discover that our faith in ourselves becomes stronger

My favorite part is the ending, the last verse goes “I say love. It is a flower, and you its only seed” and it finishes with, “Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow, lies the seed that with the sun’s love, in the spring becomes the rose” I replaced sun with the Son of God’s love. I become a new being who will get my degree and write a book to help children, adolescents and adults be all they can be, no matter what happens in their life. Yes, I may be older, as so were these women with desire to make a dream come true, Weledine Zedan, at 87, who obtained a bachelor’s degree, actually got a job right after she graduated, assisting a Doctor with visits to the elderly people. Helen Small, 90 years old graduated with a Master’s degree in Physiological Sciences because she wanted to fulfill her dream. And of course there’s Rose, at 87, she wasn’t done with life, desired to get a college degree, died right after making her dream come true. That is what life is all about setting goals and making life what you want it to be. It’s a journey of choice, we can decide to make it happen or let it slip away, I chose to make my dream come true like this host of women, who set a goal and made it happen, even if it was at the end of the
