Many forms of IT gadget(s) exist in this rapid change of technology. With so many IT gadget(s) are created, it can be difficult to look at every forms in this study. Thus, the following review of literature focuses mainly on the effects of smart-phones, tablets and notebooks bring to college student lifestyle. The terms of student lifestyle can be breakdown into three parts, which are education, health and social life.
Past research had identified the effects of excessive time usage of IT gadget(s) on university students. The IT gadget(s) no doubt has brought some benefits but also effect on student’s psychological and physical well-being. However, in terms of health, less research from previous support that the gadget(s) bring benefits.

The Stars (2013) revealed that the advancement of technology is affecting youngsters’ health. According to The Stars, a new study finds that the youngsters that addicted on gadget(s) such as tablets and smart-phones could face with serious back troubles. The study was conducted by Abertawe Bro Morganwg University Health Board in Britain. According to the researcher, Lorna Taylor, it is a healthcare time bomb.
Besides, authority also found that the gadget(s) affect individuals’ physical health. ‘Doctors and chiropractor warn individuals who are addicting to the gadget(s) would have a high possibility to suffer from back and neck pain and, sometimes, debilitating pain that lasts a lifetime’, reported in NBC Health (2013). Fishman, a chiropractor says this is global epidemic as almost everyone is relying on IT gadget(s).
Berolo, Wells and Amick’s, (2011) research was found on the discussion of the relationship between usage of mobile devices and users’ health. The aims of the study are to find out the distribution of musculoskeletal symptoms of the shoulder and neck, and also to assess the relationship between device use and symptoms.
