Superhero films create a world of fantasy in which “good” guys always stop the “evil” guys from hurting innocent victims. Undoubtedly, Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, has been portrayed as a superhero throughout The Avengers, Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 movies. Tony Stark is one of the all time most popular and loved fictional characters in the superhero world. However, superheroes do not always possess good quality traits and are flawed just like Tony Stark. Stark was born into a high-class billionaire family that owns Stark Enterprises, a weaponry company. He manipulates her by using his charm and romantic tactics, causing her to not see his true intentions. Not only does he manipulate his assistant, but he also shows no remorse when his company is engaging in immoral practices. This is evident in Iron Man 2, when Stark’s company is distributing weaponry to terrorist groups. Stark felt morally justified in killing the Afghan terrorists who were terrorizing the villages. However, the only reason why he killed the terrorists and freed the villages was because the terrorists had previously captured him and tried to kill him, not because he wanted to save the villages from suffering. Not only does Stark lack remorse, but is irresponsible and fails to accept responsibility for his own actions. For example, in Iron Man 2, Stark stirs up the enemy, causing Pepper to almost get killed (Favreau, 2010). Stark blames the attack on the actions of his father, without acknowledging and accepting that he also was in fault for instigating. In Iron Man, Stark skips an award ceremony and goes gambling instead. His friend had to accept the award for him. Later on that night, a reporter was to ask him questions regarding the ceremony, instead, he ends up sleeping with the reporter and arrives three hours later to a meeting the next day (Favreau, 2008). Although he has high regards for himself, he is a lonely person who is unable to hold long meaningful relationships. Through out many of the movies, Stark is seen as having multiple promiscuous relationships, without maintaining any emotional attachment. In each movie, Stark is portraying more and more characteristics of a psychopath. His downfall is himself and his own lust to be in control, even if it means putting others in
