How To Write An Interview Reflection

Research Reflections: For me, conducting and taking part in interviews has always been a stressful affair. Whether it was for a position on band leadership, part of joining a program, or for one of my classes, interviewing has never been an activity I was confident with. However, while conducting the interviews for this project, it was much more open and much less stressful. Whether it was because I controlled the interview questions, or whether it was because I knew them, I didn’t feel the same level of anxiety as usual. The easiest part of formulating and conducting my interviews turned out to be the interview itself, which was very surprising to me. All of them except for one simply answered all of the questions to the best of their abilities. It was that one interviewee, which also happened to be the first one, that reacted differently. That person, who also happened to be the doctor, poked numerous holes in some of my questions, which he then helped me fix. If it wasn’t for him I’m sure my future interviews would have gone quite differently. In terms of how they reacted to individual questions, the main one that caught people was the question on the barriers that might exist preventing people from receiving hospital care, especially here in America. Many were surprised that there were even people who did midwifery here; they didn’t really think that there would be any reason to do it, given how many hospitals are available. They only question that people though was slightly confusing was the question on the psychological health of the mother. One person in particular couldn’t quite think of a reason why stress might affect a baby’s delivery. In terms of how I adjusted my research to counter problems, the only major adjustments I made was at the beginning, when my first interviewee helped me fix some of my
