The Meaning Of Love Throughout history, Love, has been defined in many different ways. Some people have been trying to find a specific meaning to this word or saying that this word can be classified into a virtue. Therefore, these meanings have created uncertainty and confusion among people. This is because some people have unknown that in the case of love, the more general is the meaning, the more specified would be. In consequence, love can be defined as the expression of the heart’s feelings, which becomes the basis of every virtue.

Robert Sternberg said “love is a mixture of passion, intimacy, and commitment”( Palmer and Murphi 1). This is totally different from what the Bible explains. Because God made us of love, and love it is the basis of everything. Moreover love is dividing in different feelings or virtues that people have, in this case love can be seen as a basis not as a division of something else. God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground”(Genesis 1:26).
