The movie that I chose to do this week assignment on is called “Crash” directed by P. Haggis in 2004. Once I started watching this movie I realized that it was one that I had seen before and thought was a really good movie with a wonderful meaning at the end. This movie won three Oscars in 2005 for best picture, best original screenplay, and best editing. In this week assignment we are to pick an interpersonal conflict in the movie we chose to watch. In Crash there were lots of interpersonal conflicts that people went through in the movie. The one that I have decided to discuss and talk about that wasn’t handled correctly and could have been handled differently would be the character Anthony.

He struggles with a problem of thinking that everyone is against and stereotypes black African American people. I feel that with him feeling this way it just seems to show how he sort of has self-esteem issues with himself. At the beginning of the movie he states how in a restaurant the waiter doesn’t give them good service because they are black. And because people stereotype black they feel that black people don’t know how to tip. With Anthony saying this and feeling this way shows how he stereotypes people also without knowing how they are really feeling or thinking. It seems that his conflict is that he isn’t really happy with himself and the things going on in his life. He has on deep self-disclosure issues that need to be dealt with. Anthony is really looking for acceptance from anyone and everyone, and that’s something he shouldn’t be worried about. He tries to reach out to his friend Peter several times to understand his feelings and outlooks but he can’t understand. Peter finds that he can’t put himself in Anthony’s shoes because he doesn’t see things in the same light and way as Anthony does about racism in the
