There are many types of reflexes, such as, Babinski, moro, palmar hand grasp, placing, plantar, rooting and sucking, stepping and walking, and tonic neck response (UMM, 2013). Babinski reflex occurs when the baby toes fan outward when sole of foot is stroked. Moro reflex happens when an infant is startled, which is often triggered by loud sounds or sudden movements. Palmar hand grasp is when a baby closes their and grips your finger. The placing reflex is when a baby extends his or her legs when the sole of the foot is touched. Plantar reflex is when a baby flexes their toes and forefoot. Rooting and sucking occurs when a baby turn their head in search of a nipple when his or her cheeks were touched. Stepping and walking naturally happen when a baby foot touches a surface while their body is being supported. They are able to walk while an adult holds their hand. They sit, stand still, move slightly and can do so with little support for short time. They also relay on furniture and other object to hold their weight while standing up. Babies are smart and figure out things we are amazed of.

First, failure to thrive is a condition in which infants’ weight or weight gain is significantly below other infants within their age range and gender (John Hopkins Children ‘s Center, 2014). Infants with this condition appear dramatically smaller, or shorter than other infants of their age. Infants that fail to thrive have a head circumference, height, and weight that does not match standard growth chart. Their weight falls below three percentile, or 20% below their ideal weight for their height.
Second, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome can be defined as the sudden death of an infant less than one year of age (CDC, 2014). The cause remains unknown after a thorough investigation was conducted. This requires a complete examination of the dead baby. SIDS is the number one cause of death among infants age 1-12 months. Risks are results of sex, age, race, family history, as well as maternal aspects. Boys are more likely to die of SIDS, during the second and third months infants are more
