I always have a different way of expressing myself since I was younger. No caring about what others think and trying hard to have my voice being heard. I used to encounter a lot of limitation because I was born a girl. I could not play sport with boys or help my dad with the car, or even carry heavy things because of the same reason. But to be honest that never really stop me.

And with that school became my first obstacle. No one in the school seem to speak Spanish, and they refuse to do it. I could not communicate with no one, and no one care if I did. Most of the time I spend alone, having the teachers getting after me just because I could not understand what they said.
I was force to learn Ingles, stuck to a chair until my legs fall asleep and my eyes burn of how dry they were. “Is for your own good.” Because of this language limitations I used to stress a lot, I was unable to do my work, and the only answer that I receive was an angry face, and some time out. Math was the only thing I was good, but I was not allow to answer because I could not even said right.
Time pass and I put that to a side, I focus on sports for a while. I really like to play soccer or volleyball, so I focus my time in that, the only negative part was that fact I was too “rough”. I could hear my grandma’s voice telling me that girl did not behave that way, girls don’t do that type of things. And girls should learn how to cook and …show more content…
Prohibit. At the end of the year I have learn English enough to make my teacher happy, and to my not surprise she knew Spanish. For the first time I felt relief, I could communicate enough to move forward.
New school, new people. Middle School was one of the places where language and gender was the less of my worries. I spend most of my time in special class for learning English, and math classes, and Literature. That to my surprise and for many others was one of my favorite classes. This help me a lot to adapt to the environment and have a more joyful school year, at least for a while. I met a lot of people that only spoke English, so I found it extremely hard to work with them or to get along.
No problem we have bilingual students, so help was always there, but I still could hear the teachers said English only please. Okay…
