1. Past actions that may be contributing to the current situation
• In previous years Winnie was just sent out of the room when he became too annoying this could have taught him how to get out of classwork or that he can get attention of a new teacher by acting out and being sent away.
• There was no mention of a record of behavior strategies that had been tried or observations. If a record had been kept it may have been easier to see patterns in what strategies work and this could help the teachers in developing a new plan instead of starting from scratch.
• The case did not mention Winnie’s home life, but if the parents gave no attention to Winnie it could explain his need for attention, or if they constantly gave him attention it could explain his expectance of attention. I also think that parenting and home life could play a roll n Winnie’s impulse control and self-punishment, especially it his parents had high expectation of him and scolded or punished him when he did not meet them.

The one time a reward system was brought up with Winnie reading to the kindergarteners, he had a positive experience. I would try to build a management plan around rewards. Rewards could be reading to younger kids or classmates, extra sharing and attention time, or anything else I found out motivated Winnie during our meeting time. I would also shorten the time he has to go between rewards. If is problem is being impulsive, I think it is important to start with smaller periods and then work up to longer ones after he gets into the habit of controlling his
