Romeo is upset that he is banished from Verona, he cannot imagine life without Juliet that he even threatens a dagger upon himself. Romeo says “There is no world without Verona walls/but purgatory torture, hell itself. Hence “banished” is banished from the world/and the world's exile is death/Then Banished is death mistermed” (III.3.Line 17). Then, Friar L says, “Thou fond mad man, hear me a little speak,” (III.3.Line 53). This shows that Friar is cruel because he doesn’t take Romeo’s words seriously and doesn’t care to help Romeo with the situation. Kind people would not call someone a fool after the person just exclaimed to them that they were deeply upset and even wanted to kill themself. Poor Romeo is giving out all his feelings to Friar saying that there is no life without Verona and there is no Juliet, and it is awful punishment. Romeo finds Juliet dead in the Capulet grave house in is so upset that he kills himself to be with her. Romeo says, “O my love, my wife! Death, that sucked the honey of breath/hath no power upon thy beauty,” (V.3.Line 130). Friar is the only one who knew Juliet is still alive, yet he doesn’t even try to make an attempt to tell Romeo, after he realized that Romeo had never got the letter from Friar John. If Friar where to find Romeo and tell him that Juliet is in fact alive, then Romeo wouldn’t have killed himself.This shows that Friar is selfish because he was too afraid that the guards were going to find him in the capulet grave house, so, instead of saving Romeo and Juliet, he was just trying to save himself from getting caught. Selfish people think about themselves, and Friar Laurence was only thinking about himself not getting caught by the guards in this situation, he could care less to tell Romeo about
