The Future for Education: Technology’s Impact On Education Education, the form of acquiring knowledge based upon previous works and discoveries in the past. Education has formed the basis for our daily social lives, but it is not the only interest which has shaped our society. As we are currently in the century of technological advancements, the ideal of implicating technology in the educational system has formed. The action of combining technology into education has given an impact of benefits, shown in the success of online courses, the improvements technology contributes to schools, and the experience it provides students for the future workplace. Individualized learning forms from methods such as personalized learning, 1-to-1 computing, and blended learning which are all addressed in the article, “Technology in Education: An Overview”, by Benjamin Herold. First, personalized learning individualizes learning as it finds a student’s academic preferences, weaknesses, strengths, interests, and pace to created an education tailored to these needs. Personalized learning allows students to create and follow academic and personal goals while receiving a mastery understanding of the personalized course. Technology is in effect with personalized learning as a software or device identifies the student’s tailored learning preference and schools provide a district-owned computer for a student’s 24/7 educational assistance. Second, 1-to-1 computing has teachers provide individualized lessons and students are to learn these lessons to their own pace and ability. This method provides several benefits for students, the main benefit being it empowers students to learn through complex and creative content using computerized tools (2). Technology places itself in this method as students receive computers by the school district and students receive the lessons and work online from teachers. Third, blended learning is student groups rotating from online stations to teacher stations throughout the lesson. This method allows students to work individually while receiving assistance from their group, the teacher, or from their online station. 1-to-1 computing involves technology as some stations involve learning through lesson online.
