The 60s began with the first ever televised presidential debate in which, John F. Kennedy would square off against Richard Nixon in 1960. Both wars had a specific reason that resulted in the U.S going to war. The Vietnam War was the Domino Theory and Iraq was weapons of mass destruction. Both wars had American support from the people when we got involved. Unlike the Vietnam War, the war in Iraq was not protested on campuses to the extreme across the country. Many people during the 60s were involved with protests across the country and in 1970 is when this turned violent with the Kent State shooting. People who disagreed with the war now in this generation’s youth, take to Facebook or Twitter and express their opinions. The large difference in the way these two wars were fought deals with an increase in technology. The war in Iraq still had boots on the ground, but, they also used guided missiles and drones.
