The Master of Strategic Leadership program has provided me a wealth of invaluable knowledge that can be effectively implemented in any organization to produce positive change. I have already utilized this knowledge to implement successful changes within my own agency that has produced positive outcomes. This program has taught me how to improve upon my own leadership skills by developing the right perspective to perceive situations in a different light. If we view every idea or situation through one lens, we are limiting our capabilities, therefore degrading our ability to realize different options or alternatives. Multi frame expands our perception, therefore providing unlimited possibilities in analyzing a situation, (Smith, 2011). I …show more content…
The Master of Strategic Leadership (MSL) program has broadened my views of leadership by providing a better perspective on the multifaceted aspects of leading. Developing the right perspective is crucial to becoming an effective leader. Perspective is our take on how we see things, whether that is good or bad depends on how it is perceived. I have learned that In order for relationships to prosper you must be willing to be patient and open your mind by viewing these challenges from different perspectives, (Smith, 2011). This program has opened my eyes to new ideas regarding leadership styles, concepts and theories that I have found to be very useful. I have learned the importance of framing, which when focused upon provides clarity in our vision, (Bolman and Deal, 2013). If we view every situation from one frame, we are limiting our abilities to develop new solutions and define areas of concern, (Smith, 2011). I have gained a better understanding of my agency by utilizing the concept of the four frame models, symbolic, structural, political and symbolic. With a better understanding of the frame models, I have enhanced my strategic thought process, which in turn has …show more content…

Within the diamond model, there are four key elements that when combined provide a solid structure, (Lawler, 2003). The four design elements are people, structure rewards and processes, (Lawler, 2003). For motivational purposes, rewards are listed as the major contributor to productivity, (Lawler, 2003). Whenever possible, I set aside time to recognize my subordinates through monetary awards or personal recognition for doing a great job. 1. After reflecting on who or what event provided me with leadership influence I concluded there wasn’t one person or one event that has had the most effect on me to strive to become a better leader or person for that matter. Many of my past supervisors and present alike have been good and bad with more good than bad. I attempt to take pieces from each of their leadership qualities, use things I liked and stayed away from their “bad” leadership qualities I did not believe helped me grow as a leader or produce quality jobs or mission results. All the while, my own personality and beliefs intertwined with their leadership styles to make me who I am today as a leader.…
